South America? Haha! Sorry to break this to you but this picture was either taken in Arizona or somewhere in northern México (probably on Sonora state, judging by the saguaro cactuses). And México is definitely not in South America: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Am…
That said, this is indeed an amazing picture, well worthy of a DD. Congratulations!
Guess I got too carried away because of all the times people get México on the wrong latitude. My bad. Yet the similarities between this Argentinan landscape and those of northern México and southern Arizona are astounding.
Thanks a lot, you give me piece of mind. There are still people out there telling me that I am wrong. I placed another picture in my stock folder from the same area, I have a photo of a sign as well. It's all good now and not a competition, I like to have fun with my travel and photographs.
Now I get really confused and start to do my homework - go back in time. Thanks for the information. I have plenty more pictures from that year and sort them out a little. Today I am more organized and have all the pictures in folders with time and year. Glad you like it and thank you so much for all the help.
It looks like saguaro cactus, and I have never heard of any similar cactus. Its distrubution is not further south than Northern Mexico: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saguaro. But, nice picture, which is what brought me here, not to nitpick. Good you are better organized now.
